Soprano Yulia Petrachuk and young artists from Washington National Opera present an evening of your favorite arias and duets from the operas by Puccini, Tchaikovsky, Charpentier, Verdi, Leghar and Gounod full of love and passion that can be only in opera!
A native of Chehalis, Washington, tenor ARNOLD LIVINGSTON GEIS joins WNO’s Domingo-Cafritz Young Artist Program in the 2017–2018 season. This season with WNO, he will sing Oronte in Alcina (Domingo-Cafritz Young Artist Performance), Snake and Vain Man in The Little Prince, Miles in the world premiere of Proving Up, and Count Almaviva in The Barber of Seville (Domingo-Cafritz Young Artist Performance).
In the summer of 2017, he made his Chautauqua Opera debut performing the roles of Ernesto in Don Pasquale and Apollo in L’Orfeo. In the 2016–2017 season, he made his mainstage debut with LA Opera under the baton of Plácido Domingo and closed its season singing Parpignol in La bohème with conductor Gustavo Dudamel. In 2016, he made his company debut at New York City Opera as Corpsman Harris in the East Coast premiere of Fallujah. He also debuted as a guest soloist for Beethoven’s Missa Solemnis with the LA Master Chorale in January and Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 with Pasadena Symphony in April. Other performances include Candide and Fallujah with Long Beach Opera and recent debuts include numerous solo performances at the Walt Disney Concert Hall, Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, and Redondo Beach Performing Arts Center. He made his national television debut on America’s Got Talent in 2015 and has since sung for television and blockbuster film soundtracks including American Crime, Minions, Sing, and Star Wars: Rogue One. Winner of the 2016 LA District of the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions, he graduated with a Master of Music in Vocal Arts from the University of Southern California in May 2014.
In 2014, she made her debut at the Carnegie Hall with Steven Crawford, pianist and assistant conductor of Metropolitan Opera. In 2012, Ms. Petrachuk received a grant by The Schuyler Foundation for Career Bridge and in 2015 she was one of the Finalists in the Vocal Arts DC Discovery Series Competition in Washington DC. In 2015, she won the Montpelier Art Center’s Classical Recital Series Competition. In November 2015, Ms. Petrachuk successfully performed the World Premiere of “Yulia” (a song cycle for soprano and strings dedicated to her by composer E. Dubois) at the Merkin Concert Hall at Kaufman Music Center in New York City, in collaboration with the renowned Italian pianist Carlo Pari. In December 2016, she had a recital at the Carnegie Weill Recital Hall with American pianist Michael Fennelly and performed a world premier of a song cycle “Winter Wood” by Emmanuel Dubois for soprano and harp.
In February 2017, she had her recital in Fort Myers Auditorium in Florida with the renowned American pianist David Northington. In April 2017, Ms. Petrachuk performed the soprano solo in the Cantata Emmanuel by Paul Leavitt with the Chorale and Orchestra of the FMMC at the Church of the Reformation in Washington DC. Recently, in June 2017, she performed the role of Donna Anna in Mozart's opera Don Giovanni with the Vienna Music Festival in Vienna, Austria. And in July 2017, Yulia participated at the Maryland Lyrica Young Artists Program and performed a concert at the Italian Embassy of Washington DC with Javier Arrey, baritone and Jonathan Tetelman, tenor (soloists of Metropolitan Opera). And most recently, in November 2017, Yulia started successful concert series at Strathmore Mansion in Rockville, MD.
Her future engagements include various operatic and concert series performances in Washington DC, Florida, New York, Russia, France, Austria and Italy.
