JULY NEWS 2019
On July 11, 2019, Lyrica Classic Entertainment presented US-Premiere of mono-opera The Love Letters by Ukrainian composer Yuriy Yanko.
Mono-opera is an unusual genre; the number of such works is small. Until the twentieth century, they were sporadic, in recent times, mono-operas were created more often, but still rarely enough - and even less often they appear on the stage of opera houses. One of such works is the opera by Vitaly Sergeevich Hubarenko THE LOVE LETTERS, also known under the title Tenderness. It was written in 1971 - and this seemed unexpected after operas such as The Death of a Squadron and Mamai, created in the 1960s. After the works of the heroic plan, the composer turns to in-depth psychologism, to intimate lyrics. According to the composer, one of the reasons that prompted him to turn to the mono-opera genre was the possibility of combining the laws of symphonic music and opera.
